April 25, 2010 The Shortarmguy Family's First BBQ of 2010
When I was dropping the boys off at the Bus Stop this week, we came across this strange looking duck. We couldn't quite figure out why his neck was all white, but my guess is that he was bobbing for bread crumbs in a bucket of bleach. Maybe one of you has a better guess?
We had another strange encounter with nature at the dog park when we found many of the trees carrying these big webs of worms.
We're not sure of the name of these creatures but we discovered that they sure taste kind of funny.
On Wednesday, Krazy Kory came to town for a visit. We went to see the movie Kick-Ass which I found to be quite on the right side of awesome! Probably not one for the kids due to all the potty talk and excessive violence, but we sure liked it! Hit Girl is my new personal hero! Here's a link to the trailer:
The real reason for Kory's visit was to help us celebrate Sunny's 5th birthday. Which is 35 in dog years. And 40 in Krazy Kory years.
On Sunny's birthday, he gets a special treat of a chocolate muffin. He gets just a little bit excited to receive it.
But the good times didn't end at the muffin. He also received the super sized bag of dog food and the big box of Milk Bones. Here you see him singing for his supper.
On Saturday night, we had our old friends Karl and Tina Z over for supper. We originally had planned going on a boat ride, but the rain and cold breeze kept us inside instead.
Every time Karl comes over for a BBQ, I learn something new from him. This time, it was about a little thing at the bottom of the grill which captures the grease. Apparently I'm supposed to clean that out every once in a while. I learned this lesson when we suddenly noticed a cloud of black smoke escaping from the closed grill and from the massive fireball that came out when Karl opened the lid. Luckily for us, only the outside of the steaks were completely charred black. The insides were still pretty good. And if Karl's arm hair grows back normally, we can consider the meal to be a great success!
